The study was conducted at Agronomy Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during 2012, to find out the appropriate dose of zinc fertilizer in field condition. The experiment was carried out at randomized completely block design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments were Zn0, Control; Zn1, 1.5 kg ha-1 and Zn2, 3.0 kg ha-1. Significant variation was found with different treatments. Plant height (cm), no. of branches per plant, no. of pods per plant, length of pod (cm), grain per  pod, weight of 1000-grain (g), grain yield (t ha-1) and stover yield (t ha-1) were found maximum with Zn2 (3.0 kg ha-1) and  lowest was obtained from control. Plants fertilized with 3.0 kg Zn ha-1 significantly increased the mineral concentration of N, P, K and S in sotver and grain, where as the mineral concentration in both sotver and grain decreased with control.
