IMPORTANCE OF REFLECTIVE WRITING PRACTICE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM AT HIGHER SECONDARY LEVEL IN BANGLADESH

This paper attempted to explore the importance
of reflective writing practice in English language classroom as a means of
developing English language. This study was based on higher secondary classroom
in Bangladesh. The study was conducted during November and December 2019. The
study selected 5 higher secondary college teachers and 30 higher secondary
college students from D. K. Ideal Sayad Atahar Ali Academy and University
College, Dashar, Madaripur and Sheikh Hasina Women’s University College, Dashar,
Madaripur. Adopting a test method approach, this study used an observation and
experiments (N=30) and interviews (N=10). It presented the concept and
importance of reflective writing practice in English language classroom for
developing English language at the higher secondary level in Bangladesh. And it
discussed the opportunities and challenges of reflective writing practice in
English language classroom. The findings of this study advocated that
reflective writing practice in English language classroom was useful to improve
English language skill. And it was found to be an effective means for the development
of English language at the higher secondary level in Bangladesh. But, some
challenges were faced while reflective writing practice was performed in
English language classroom.
