GROWTH AND YIELD OF ASH GOURD AS INFLUENCED BY SUPPLEMENT APPLICATION OF LIQUID MANURE

A field experiment was accomplished at the Horticulture
farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka from March 2024 to June
2024 to study the effect of supplement application of liquid manure on the
growth and yield of Ash Gourd. This study used three replications to arrange
the experiment in a randomized complete block design. The treatments were used
T0: control (BARI recommended fertilizers doses); T1:
100% RFD + Liquid manure (once, at 15 days after transplanting); T2:
100% RFD + Liquide manure (twice; 15 and 30 days after transplanting). Data on
different growth, flowering stages, fruit yield and quality attributes
parameters were taken and all the treatments showed significant variations.
Among these three replications maximum leaves number per 1m vine length (9.1),
leaf area (176.3 sq.cm), SPAD (50.6), no. of female flowers per plant (14.0),
fruits per plant (13.0) and yield (t/ha) (28.9) were found in the T2
treatment whereas the minimum was in the T0 treatment. It can be
seen that the lowest number of leaves per 1m vine (6.3), leaf area (151.3
sq.cm), SPAD (46.9), no of male flowers (12.8), fruits per plant (10.3) and
yield (t/ha) (23.0). After all, it appears that, since in the T2
treatment liquid manure was used twice which resulted good yield. As twice
applications of liquid fertilizer promote good results, farmers can also use it
to increase their production. The study showed that the supplement application
of liquid manure influenced the growth and yield of ash gourds.
