EFFECTIVENESS OF INTEGRATED APPROACH OF TRAINING AND MICRO-CREDIT PROGRAM FOR POVERTY REDUCTION OF RELOCATED PEOPLE IN GUCHCHHOGRAM
Guchchhogram (GG) project is a rehabilitating project by which climate
victim landless people have been relocating to government khas land and providing training and
microcredit program for the socio-economic development. This study aimed to
assess the effectiveness of training and micro-credit programs on the poor
households of the GGs. This study was conducted from May to August 2019 in five
districts of the Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions of Bangladesh. To fulfil the
aims data were collected from 139 respondents of five sample GGs. The results
indicate that training and microcredit programs created a positive impact on
the household of the GGs. Result shown that 74.8% of the households were
engaged in different income generating activities after receiving training and
micro-credit loans as well as 54.25% of households were able to enhance their
income from the IGAs. It needs to strengthen the training and micro-credit
program in GGs. Moreover, a sufficient amount of loan should be sanctioned and
all the people of GG are needed to engage in micro-credit program reverting
beneficiaries in the mainstream of the society.
