An experiment was conducted at the Jute Research Regional Station, Kishoreganj of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute. There are sixteen cropping patterns were studied including eight different crops to study the effects of various crops and cropping pattern on soil fertility. The nutrient status of soil showed that organic matter, total N, exchangeable K and available P and S slightly increased due to cropping over the fallow. The highest increase but more or less similar was observed after dhaincha (green manure), deshi jute and tossa jute and the lowest in case of T. aus rice. The pH of soil slightly decreased in all the treatments compare to initial status.
