CALLUS INDUCTION OF GERBERA EXPLANTS WITH DIFFERENT GROWTH REGULATOR COMPOSITIONS
An experiment was accomplished at Advanced Seed
Research and Biotech Center (ASRBC), ACI, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period
of September to October, 2014 to evaluate the callus induction of gerbera
explants under different growth hormone. Five explants (E1, Flower
bud; E2, Capitulum; E3, Leaves; E4, Peduncle;
and E5, Petiole) and six growth regulator composition T0:
0 mg/l BAP + 0 mg /l NAA, T1: 1 mg/l BAP + 0.01 mg /l NAA, T2:2
mg/l BAP + 0.01 mg /l NAA, T3: 3 mg/l BAP + 0.01 mg /l NAA, T4:4
mg/l BAP + 0.01 mg /l NAA, T5:5 mg/l BAP + 0.01 mg /l NAA were used
in this experiment. Individually explant E1 and treatment T3 showed
best performance in all the studied characteristics. In case of combined
effect, T3E1 exhibited best performance overall except
percent survival where T2E1 showed the best result
(97.3). So, flower bud can be considered as the most suitable explant for
further experimentation in protocol development.
